GOP Impeachment Efforts Fading Away

In recent weeks, there has been little evidence of the GOP's impeachment investigation of Joe Biden. The recent charging of the House GOP's key witness, Alexander Smirnov, with lying about the president and his son Hunter with respect to their Ukrainian business dealings, has eliminated a key witness from the case they were trying to build.

Sean Hannity hasn't mentioned the impeachment probe on his show in over a month. With Donald Trump, the first president charged with criminal activity, currently speaking to the press from court every day, the GOP would love to counter that coverage with an active impeachment effort. But they can't because they have oversold and under delivered on the investigation from its beginning. There is reporting indicating that James Comer, the Chairman and most active leader of the GOP's impeachment efforts, has become very frustrated and is looking for a way to gracefully wrap up the probe.
